Buy-a-Book for the Library!

Honoring those we love never goes out of style and this time of year there are multiple opportunities to do just that.  Mother’s Day, graduations, Father’s Day, weddings, and even Memorial Day offer the chance to remember that loved one or friend in a special way.  Why not honor them by donating a book to the library in their name?

The Friends of A.K. Smiley Public Library sponsor a Buy-a Book program which makes this possible.  All you need to do is to fill out a “Yes! I want to buy a book for my library” form indicating the name of the person or persons you wish to honor, the type of book such as adult fiction or nonfiction, reference or children’s, the amount of your donation, and your contact information. The forms are available at the library at the circulation desk and downstairs in the Friends bookstore.   Drop the form off with your donation to the library circulation desk or mail it to Friends of the A.K. Smiley Public Library, 125 W. Vine Street, Redlands, CA  92373.

The library staff will do the rest.  Upon receipt of the donation, you will receive a confirmation letter. When the book or books have been processed and are ready to circulate, a postcard will be sent to you with the specific titles of each book.   Each book will have a commemorative bookplate indicating the name of the person honored.  It is a wonderful way to honor that special person while helping to provide books for the community to enjoy for years to come.
